Supervising in Accelerating Cleanup and audit management for EAF Dust and other Industrial Waste

Absrtact
There were about 13 to 16 million tones of hazardous EAF dust were generated by electric arc furnace(EAF) steel smelting plant every year in Taiwan. The shortage of recycling treatment plant capacity led to the storage quantity of EAF dust more than 500,000 tons which need to be accelerated in its cleanup and stored properly by strengthen the supervising work. This project implemented on-site visits to urge the EAF steel-smelting dust and other industrial waste to be treated in accordance with the Waste Disposal Act and relevant laws and regulations. This project also investigated the current status of re-use facilities. The EAF dust and slag were sampled and analyzed to supervise EAF steel-smelting industry effectively to strengthen its audit and management of storage works as well as tracking of transportation and treatment operations. By collecting re-use technologies and status of facilities, this project drafted the implementation plan for accelerating the treatment of the EAF dust for the relevant authorities to resolve the long-term issue of steel-smelting EAF dust storage.
